Thread: Land Rover UK refurbishing classic Defenders again

Paywall, which is a shame. Not subbing to the Tele for this, pity they don't give you a little look first.

£200K??!! What interests me is would it be considered a "new" vehicle for registration purposes? I know the UK has far more relaxed rules when it comes to "specials" than we do here, but surely it would put the lie to " we can no. longer make the Defender compliant"?

Anyway, I wonder if LR would consider refurbishing my 109. At their expense, obviously.

They do look good, though. I've saved as a PDF which allows you to read the article without the Paywall. Enjoy.

No, for registration purposes in the u.k they are not new, 2012 - 2016.
so they are vins that have be reg'd before.
if an old vehicle has never been reg'd in the u.k then it must meet current emission and safety regs.

which was why when the MOD sold off some defenders that were new in storage they couldnt be reg'd in the U.K

Interesting that even Land Rover see a market for the 'Classic' Defender.
