    The fun of doing reno's

Just doing the main bedroom, have lifted all the carpet and under lay and the smooth edge up. Now to clean it as some of the under lay bit have stuck on floor and the staples that held it . This carpet was put in 30 years ago when Mario was in sales in the carpet business. I am doing it on my own, last time I was doing the lounge/dinning room and I had Mario sitting in his chair supervising me saying you miss that staple or nail. He supervised me using the nail gun as some of the board squeak, and painting the rooms he would say I missed a bit. It was getting on my back with him tell me what to do, but I would do it all again to have him by my side. You wouldn't believe what colour of the main bedroom it's, from the 80's, pink with black skirting, thank goodness he didn't paint the window frames that. This is the last room to do as Mario had all the inside and outside reno's done before he passed away. I was told by Tony our friend which was doing all the reno's, that Mario wanted everything done so I didn't have to worry about anything with the house. He was always thinking of everyone but himself Well that is going to keep me busy for a month. Heather

Pink with black takes me back to the early sixties or maybe late fifties when I painted my mum's old push-bike pink with black corners and my brother painted his bike black with pink corners.

Smooth edge - that's an oxymoron.

I was born in 61 and Mario was born in 59. and we painted the lounge room/dining room in peach/apricot and grey. Boy was that colour hard to paint over I think there is 3 coats as the peach was coming through. I can see myself doing 3 coats to get rid of the very strong pink. I would never recommend any one to use strong colours if they are going to change the colour years later to much hard work .

Paint over red with black, before applying the final colour.
Reds are notorious for bleeding through, whereas blacks generally do not do so.

    Hello Heather and All,

The other 'fun' aspect of renovations is how inanimate objects become animated and try to tangle and trip you up when you are moving things around. Things that were gauged as being well out of the way suddenly spring to life when you are trying to shift something that you cannot see over. The next thing is a tangle or a crash of something falling happens. Then you are locked in position not being able to move because the inanimate object has called in friends and your progress is stopped in its tracks. Ask me how I know this! Just last night while I was moving the ...

    Kind regards
    Lionel
