Thread: Need advice on phone number moving

Hoping someone has some knowledge that could be usefull

I'm about to move a home/office (within the next 2 weeks) which the office has been running the same phone & fax number for the last 10 years or more so don't want to have to change the numbers if i can help it.

We're basically getting rid of the office so my sales people will be working from home and mobile and most of our stuff is done via email anyway so thinking about going VOIP but can't find anything that says we can prt our local numbers to a provider for this use.

Been looking at the oztell.com.au option which lets me use a web PABX style setup for redirecting calls... and the have a fax to email service so along those lines work for me.

Any suggestions please very much appreciated

Hi Outlaw, before I moved to the Gold Coast, I lived In Sydney and had, as a sideline, a home security installation business.

When I moved up here, I sold the security section of my business to one of the installers who worked for me.

In the last few days that we were down there, we had the number transferred to the installers home line and even though he didn’t live in the same exchange area, anybody ringing our old number would be answered be the installers phone.

He kept the number listed like that and paid the phone rental as normal until the next phone book had been out for about 6 months and then terminated the service.

I can’t see why you shouldn’t be able to do something similar if that’s what you are after.
