    AEMO Dashboard

I was having a look at the AEMO Dashboard as this wave of hot weather rolls through.
    AEMO | NEM data dashboard

To me it doesn't make sense, SA is using more than they are producing and have a spot price of -$33.00 mW/H
QLD, NSW and Vic are all producing more than they're using and have spot pricing up to $404.24 (Vic) mW/H

Am I reading it wrong? Do I not have a grip on supply and demand?

I'ts amazing to watch and look at the energy mix Tony. The day we had "Renewable Penetration Highlights of 75.6% record " is really interesting given the next day the prices tripled or much worse everywhere! The grids stability is often a least considered aspect I think. Whats the cost is a key part for right now and again every day of course. Right now its $93.55 /MWh)

Suns hot and its windy? I don't get it.

Is Joe Blogs meant to understand it?

Perhaps it's just 'Fine Print' in Graph format?

It's clearly clear right now? Tas Demand 963 with Generation 580 has a -$48.02. Vic with less Dmand than Generation is -$37. Mud is clear to me. NSW which also has more demand than Generation is paying "$531.64" Brick walls are clear

At first, I thought looking closely at the blue solar/wind bar graph there is a dark and light section which I assumed was actual generation vs installed generation capacity, but that doesn't seem to make sense either!

    In the Dispatch Overview window?

That is Scheduled, the lighting bolt, and Semi Scheduled, the wind turbine, Generation.

    What ever that means 🤷

This live website might be easier to understand:

    ELJM: NEM Regional Generation Summary

Note that 'RRP' in the RH column stands for 'representative regional price' (i.e. the amount that the generators are getting per mW for that 5 minute period), not 'recommended retail price'.

The private retailers haven't inflated it yet.

    cheers, DL

More detailed, yes, easer to understand, I'm not sure🥺

What I really dont get is what drives the spot price?

Vic at the moment is neg $61.80 and there is 1545mW of wind, solar, hydro and battery in the mix, all of which can be switched off.
So why are those generators paying to supply the grid, why don't they throttle back till demand exceeds supply and the price goes positive?

Particularly the battery, surely all the batteries should be sucking up all the power they can while the price is negative, not supplying?

I don't believe that roof top/behind the meter solar is shown on the AEMO Dashboard, so that 1545mW doesn't include that.
