I have an ARB twin pump in the portable box. The thing has two 40amp fuses close to the pump. I attach it via an Anderson plug which also has a 40amp fuse. It always blows the fuse in the cable to the Anderson plugs which also and not the ones at the pump end.
Any clues as to why it does this?

Supporterto the best of my knowledge the arb twin pulls around 70A max so 2x40 in parallel makes 80 makes sense which is possibly how it is wired close to the pump itself. A single 40A in the cable to the anderson plug would just not be enough?

I was concerned the cable length may have an issue too, at the rear of my 110. The auto electrician assumes me this is not an issue with gauge of cable used.

SupporterThanks W&KO, much of your message is corrupted. The set up I have is two 40amp fused cables to Anderson plugs at the rear of the vehicle. What I am proposing to do is use a Y connector at the Anderson plugs and connect the pump to this.You need to upgrade the wiring and fuse for the Anderson plug that you’re connecting the compressor to…..single [emoji[emoji

SupporterExcellent! Keep an eye on the temps of the anderson connector (the single one) since in peak you pull a bit more than they are rated for, other than that; enjoy your setup.

I have seen a big one used for a movable winch on a Suzuki. Not sure of its rating though.
