Ever forget to pack something ....

The book is from 1949. I bought the Ordnance Survey maps of the Cairngorms so I could follow the action.

I once forgot my sleeping bag when camping overnight at a car race, so I took the carpet out of the back of my Commodore wagon and slept rolled up in that.

I forgot one of the kids once, but he ran, keeping up no matter how fast I drove.

I went to Albany on Wednesday (just over 4 hours drive for me normally). I got an hour from home and realised I had left my bag behind. Had my clothes and toiletries in the car, but the bag that had all the gear I needed for work was sitting where I left it at home, so had to loop back and pick it up. Glad I figured it out *before* I drove in to Albany.

Forgotten lots of things over the years.Back in the day,we used to "drop Charge",that is measure the refrigerant charge that goes into a domestic refrigerator, and hook the measuring cylinder on the condenser on the back of the fridge we were working on.I would finish the job and push the fridge back and leave it hanging there. Then a few days later wonder where the hell it is.Doing 5 to 10 jobs a day,one tends to forget where one has been. All fun and games.

Another time, probably over 10yrs ago, i opened the back door of the van after taking the dog for a walk.I am still 100% sure she jumped in,but then must have jumped out again somehow just as i was shutting the door.Luckily the road is a dead end,so i drove down the end, turned around, and there was a lucky dog, waiting for a lift....

Now every time i put the dog in the van i double check she is there before i drive off.Or if she is dry and not covered in mud,she can sit in the front.

    They are a great idea.

We have had camping lists for over 40yrs,they are regularly updated as things changed over the years.

I am going through one right now as we are off next week for a few weeks away.

I forgot a towel when off to work, covering every state except WA, in ten days. Thank goodness for Target Country in Longreach.

4 week outback trip … packed the percolator, & 1kg of freshly roasted beans …. left the grinder at home … WTF !!

Every morning the campsite was awakened to me grinding coffee beans on the camper trailer draw bar using a heavy plastic bag and a 4lb lump hammer

That's more devastating than no towel. Necessity was the mum of invention.
