Any d2 owners on here running that size 255/85-16? i will be replacing my 265/75-16s soon and was considering that size, but not sure how it would go with my current setup - 2-3in lift - stock gearing and axles etc.

I used to run 255/85-16's. They'll go under with a 2" lift and bullbar but will rub under the PS guard a little bit. You really need a little bit more of a lift or longer bumpstops that what a 2" and standard suspension setup will give. For a stocker and 2" lift you'll get 265/75-16's under there generally, with rubbing on the radius arms - adjust the steering stops slightly to correct that. I also say generally as on some D2's they may touch the guard top at the rear - I know of 1 that does this, though many others that don't.

255/85's will have the gearing and speedo out by 15% and with a TD5 auto I could live with it, but after a minor diff/axle explosion changed to 4.11's. Admittedly I was doing something pretty stupid to break it. I 4WDed it reasonable hard for quite a while before that, and if you're not silly with it the factory driveline strength will be fine. If you're silly with it you'll still break it with smaller tyres.
    Cheers
