Aftermarket parts are cheap but lots of bushes need replacing as they get older.

Cambelt & High Pressure fuel pump belt are a little expensive to get done. From memory..... 160,000km for the cambelt and 220,000km for the HP fuel pump belt.

Our 2WD is close to getting the HP pump belt done.

    Other problems we've had :-
One wheel bearing became noisy, I got a complete hub for under $50.
An O-ring failed on the diesel spill rail, PITA to replace, only cost time.
    Rear diff bushes replaced.

The 2.7 in the Terri doesn't seem to have the Land Rover engine problems.

Hi Colin, haven't had any engine issues with our 2.7ltr Disco, just the usual maintanence jobs, arms, belts and so on, replaced the coolent sensor 12mths ago, 298,000ks, gearbox is another story

What issues have you heard of.

    Another vote for the Volvo

On various forums the 2.7 in the Disco seems to have problems like oil pump failure & crank failure. No issues with the Terri motor and the Terri motor is often fitted in Disco's after an engine failure.
No issues with the ZF in the petrol or the 6R80 in the diesel Terri.

I'm told the XC70 is great until you get a problem then major expense.

    G`day ,

wife also has lower back problems she has had the L322 can`t remember how long before that 85 Range rover , anyway we needed to replace a car and she said the L322 was too big now so we decided on a 2020 Forester secondhand she has not complained of the seats .

We didn`t want another Range rover i wanted petrol non turbo i wanted to pay someone else to work on it .

I got the L322 still have the 85 though it`s on 3mth reg so time may be up soon but hard when its been around so long .

Im happy wifes happy , different shaped people suit different cars so sit and drive is the pudding .

All the best , Peter .

You should look at some of the late model Citroens with hydraulic suspension.

Edit: the grey market import JDM Toyota Crowns are very comfortable, they used them as taxis in Tokyo and I always looked for them instead of the smaller dedicated taxi versions.

I'd be very surprised if any 2.7's still had the original oil pump fitted without the reinforced webbing, as it is a well known upgrade when the timing belt is done and often breaks shortly thereafter if not upgraded.

Citroens are mostly rebadged Peugeots these days. The X7 series still has hyraulic suspenion. Do not buy one with the peugeot/citroen/land rover V6 diesel (we all know why). If you can find one with "RHH" in its VIN. This means its the later version of the 2.0litre diesel. This motor is a gem ... very reliable and remarkably grunty.

They are getting old now. Avoid any with adblue (the resevoirs play up and are big $$$ to replace). I'd avoid anything with an automatic handbrake. very expensive to repair.

I've never owned one, but these are apparently very nice riding, reasonably reliable cars. Sadly they were never sold with a proper manual gearbox.

I'd buy one if I needed it. However, I am capable of working on my own vehicles.

Isn't there a TSB about it? Which is different to a recall.
