    ANZAC Day in Yass

Will be attending the March in Yass, hope to see some series Landrovers all polished and on parade, ...just might hitch a ride if age wearies me

I prefer the smaller venues, they seem more personal and genuine to me. Each to their own, as long as the deserved respect is paid, it doesn't matter where. Marburg for me.

Marburg that's not out of town that's out of touch, but should be a great service as they could fire a twenty one gun salute with live rounds and not hit a thing! Although if we lose the weather radar, I'll know things got out of hand.

I'll suggest the twenty-one guns are pointed at Brisbane.
    Out of touch indeed.

I thought Yass would be "small",

Am in Canberra now with daughter etc., and didn't want the political parade at the sheepstation, so tossed up between Yass and Wee Jasper.

Mind you, one dawn service in Stanley there were only two of us. My mate once had two stripes, self one stripe so guess who stood under the shop awning and who stood alongside the cenotaph in the freezing rain

The small would have been nice. I got 50,000 odd for dawn service and 20 odd 15/16 year old sailors demanding my leadership skills then mocking my "Left Left Left Right Left" call

My Navigation skills to get home were challenged after a very long day including a volunteer serving food at the Stella Maris seafarers club Melbourne surprising me. She Volunteered in 1971 to 1977 in Fremantle WA and Hundreds of other sailors who preceded my intake have now been informed and as presently surprised as I was to meet this generous lady who helped serve our lunch.

    Wink

I noticed when watching the parades that all the Jeeps seemed to have rope wrapped around the front bumpers or even A-frames for a quick recovery whereas the Land Rovers didn't.

    Absolutely lovely little cenotaph.

However, I have often wondered why "soldiers " . I realise there was no RAAF then but we did have a Navy.

No criticism, but hundreds of memorials and clubs and gardens have that same wording.

Come to think of it ,no nurses mentioned either
