    the major cause for concern would be rust.
    Looking at the approximate location of the seller, along the coast too, I'd say there could be a fair bit of rust around the usual Defender locations, rear crossmember, bulkhead/A pillars, etc.

    If you don't already know about Mike at Britannica Restorations, he does youtube videos about rusted defenders and has a lot of content produced over the years.
    Also good to keep tuned to his channel re Tdi info and stuff.

    If it has no rust in the firewall or chassis I can't think of one.

    Buy any old Defender, one should always have at least one hobby and its better than gambling, illicit substances and ladies of the night.

    Unlikely to be cheaper though...
