Welcome back! Can you beg, borrow or steal a Nanocom for the journey?? That way if it's a bad 'un you might be able to get it there. You'll need one eventually..
Howdy folks,
Having been away for a while & having a lot going on I have decided to return to the group of nut cases that lust after Land Rovers.
Do I have a Land Rover? I hear no one ask.
Sort of!
I fly to Newcastle next week to pick up a D2a & drive it back the 2700km approximately to Cloncurry over the following few days. That should sort out if it's an OK car.
It has been an interesting couple of years while I have been off the site, new town, new job, living with the family again &, just for fun, some health issues. I may go into more detail at a latter date.
Anyway, looking forward to getting a 23 year old car & being back on AULRO!

Good to see you back, don't know why you felt the need for a sabbatical.
How are the boys?
Which route home?

						Hello Jones Farm,
I was only thinking of you the other day. Good to see you posting again. Best of luck with the new to you vehicle and the journey back. Typing in Newcastle to Cloncurry into Google Map brings up an inland route of 2,037 km. That is a pretty good shake down to get to know a new vehicle!
Kind regards
Lionel

The boys are well, 3 have left home, though 2 are always here, a another works for me, Butchers apprentice, & they are all pretty much grown up. I am taking our 16 year old daughter (Ward) with me for conversation who will probably put on headphones & ignore me the entire trip.
Fly to Newcastle Tuesday, pick up car Wednesday morning start driving around midday & as below.
Going Newcastle to Moree, Moree to Toowoomba, a day with relatives in Toowoomba, then Blackall, on to Cloncurry the last day.
Once back in The Curry get a RWC & register it in QLD then start playing with her. She needs some trim parts, seat stitching & plastic bits. Looking at an ARB Bull Bar + Spotlights, UHF & probably a roof rack.
If it is as advertised most the mechanical stuff is done. It has been looked after by a mob called 4WD Industries who I don't know but seem OK from Google. I will find out, I guess!
My daughter is looking forward to the big adventure, so I hope it all goes reasonably smoothly.

SupporterNot sure about the cellular coverage on that massive trip but it might turn out to be a blessing (having none that is). Means your daughter might even be forced to take OFF her headset and talk to dad
Cheers,

Time for a coffee in Toowoomba?

I , too, wondered what had become of you.
Read of leaving Doomadgee and relocation to the Curry, then noticeable by your absence .
Looking forward to more stories 😀
