Modified Zone Disco V8 Ute conversion

    Hello All,

Can someone quickly identify and provide the link to a Disco 2 V8 ute conversion?

I am up to page 7 of 14 pages within the AULRO Modified Zone trying to find the thread where a very clever and highly skilled practitioner converted a Disco 2 V8 into a ute. I took a screen shot of the process of constructing the rear section of the cabin. However, I have lost the link to the main thread itself.

Not sure why I could be interested in this thread

The link to the photograph does not trace back to the main thread when some characters towards the URL are deleted. This trick sometimes leads back to the main source. Not this time though.

    Hello All,

I just ventured into the Projects zone and found Stirlsilver's Disco Ute Project thread. This is a new thread to me. The one that I am after finished up as a white ute not Stirlsilver's project. Well I will look through the thread to see if the other project's paint colour changed from white to orange...

Hmmm Stirlsilver's thread is 82 plus pages long ... pause ... look out of my window ... yes, it is still raining out there. What better way to spend a rainy day! Going through old AULRO threads and writing some notes. No, I am borrowing ideas - not thinking of converting a Disco to a ute. Perhaps some other type of sedan.

I will still try and find that white Disco thread ... unless some kind soul finds the thread first. Until then I will follow the saying, "God helps those who help themselves"

Oh, BTW ... in case it is raining down your way too ... accessed 9th August 2025 from, Stirlsilver's Disco Ute Project leads to Stirlsilver's Project thread...

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    Hello All,

Solved. I did for some strange reason name the file as the person's username. Put that into the AULRO Advanced Search Username box and bingo

    "Roversmith"

    Thank you God!

    Here is the thread

    Discovery 2a ute

Now watch the hours fly by - then I have to cook dinner... then I can review some more of both Roversmith's and
Stirlsilver's threads. Rain ... what rain.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    Hello All,

Before I receive numerous replies cautioning me about the need to meet ADR compliance and engineer certifications. I do not care if the end result is a trailer queen. Only trailered to special events and then just parked in a car show's car park - in the Rat Rod section. Or the project gets trailered to a four wheel drive track. Or taken to a relative's or friend's farm and have the cobwebs blown out of the car. I just want to learn to use the sheet metal tools I have lurking in my shed, and to stretch and test my skills. I have a very - very rusty D1210-1310 International Van to learn and practice metal fabrication, welding and rust removal skills on to build my skills up on first.

It would be really great to be able to have a fully registered vehicle. If it never gets there - then - Meh!

At least the journey will have been interesting. I have the bottom part of the equation sorted out. A Discovery 1 - V8. However, it is close to the too good to hack up side of the equation. Hence my being on the lookout for a possible other rolling chassis donor on Marketplace.

I might have found the top half and very unfortunately for me it is even located with less than an half an hour from me. The car is already dismantlement too. It is getting very hard to resist pulling the trigger on the vehicle too! Each time I go online, I hope someone else has bought it. Yet it persists.... The advertisement keeps taunting me... Just as well its raining outside. You know - the voice of reason trying to maintain the high ground.

I would not even have to hire a car trailer to pick up the body ... No ... where is that voice of reason?
Quick ... think of more voices of reason content .... umm ... umm what about ... my own sanity?

    Kind regards
    Lionel
