Shaft seals sorted. The guys were impressed at their condition and we're good for another 6-8 years, plus the shafts are straight and couplings in good nick. Also the mechanic I get to supply me genuine Volvo parts and do the work I don't want to really rely on myself to do (things like heat exchangers where a coolant leak results in total engine loss) was very happy with what he examined. That's nice. See the attention to detail required from owning a Landrover has benefited me in more ways than normal.

I wonder if your wife, being of Scottish descent, might have a slightly different view of the "attention to detail" in that sentence Brad.

No question. Still, I'm pretty sure she puts up with me because I can fix stuff. Or I keep telling myself that anyway. I've had 2 mates go through divorce. Owning boats *and* Landrovers is still cheaper by miles.

Ditto, but I wish my wife would stop breaking stuff to keep testing if I'm still worth it.

Ok, so I’m support boat for a psychotic swimmer who is clearly too cheap to catch a ferry to Rottnest. I headed down the river today to borrow a pen on the coast to save me a couple of hours in an hour or so.

‘I’m used to yacht clubs being ****. It was my 52nd birthday, so I invited my family down to the club I’m staying at overnight. After an hour in traffic to get there, we had to wait over an hour for our meals. My sons ‘kids pasta’ had more pepper in it than I keep in my grinder, my wife’s Asian salad was literally 100% parsely and I’m sure my burger was off. It was rank, even my wife spat it out and she’s Scottish and eats haggis. Ok, dinner was a bust so I send them home and head back to the boat.

i got to sleep about half 10 to be woken at about midnight by a family of seagulls having a dispute on the deck. I manage to move them on. Still not asleep I get joined in my bed by a very confused and angry seagull who had fallen through the hatch. I chased him around for 15 minutes before I managed to get a towel over him and eject him/ it’s now 3am and the mozzies have moved in.

All I can say is she’d better bloody win.

    im tired.

Just rejoice in the amount of free wisdom precursor you've been given (even though coinage has been necessary).

Some people just get to play the pokies or watch footy, etc on a Saturday.

    Happy Birthday! DL
