Women and Men and kids?
A new threadI am looking at Brads Bloody Boats and holding myself off as the around the world sailing is in my agenda - planning stage -at present. While I am doing that CFA Planned Burns and more for unpaid time employment other than running, Diving and....
On Saturday 20 km of Planned Burned Taskforce crew and Local CFA worked very fast. One or two crook bits. A traffic control person was assaulted by a V.I.P. who wanted to drive through flames and zero visibility from very Thick smoke! Hope vicpol and courts do some stomping. Three over 30 year old fire appliances? One a ultra light I was using wasn't to bad. Except seat belts didn't work and got jammed in doors often. Who would think fire-fighters get in and out often? Two fire tankers didn't. One Retired with mechanical issues. The other electrical faults stopped radios and without communication it was not fantastic! Apparently the fully funded claims include hundreds of millions of emergency funding for major emergency including aircraft and paid workers not CFA Volunteers. I smell a rat? I did stick of smoke and fire after a every productive day of prevention.
While this seems grumpy let me add - On the bright side plus I rang my Aunt who did the catering for my very young self while my uncles, cousins and other locals burnt roadside fire breaks in the Western Districts prior to my wet days. Her food and "Tang" was appreciated. Tang by the way was only every seen at that farm not my place! I loved it
Google says Tang (drink mix) - Wikipedia I am taking that straight to the pool roomMy Aunty G will get a personal update about this next week! Mods NOTE- I could not see a Love icon
My youthful burns had walkers setting the fires at about 5km per hour. Yesterday four quad bikes with fuel tanks dripped the fire at 10Kph behind four tankers wetting down the fence line, trees and other important stuff. Two takers to replace them as the 5000ish litre tanks needed refills. Two tankers behind and this black duck was in the fast mover ducking here or there as needed.

Does both sides of the road burnt mean it was 40km? Could it be my fav distance of 42.2
Exuse the new time wasting thread. Brad has been warned- Sailor interested in Sailing- Who would have thought![]()

3 days road sideburning. First in a ultra light was fine. Next morning "Who's is lighters today" had my hand up quick. Two days and 30 off km waking the fire later
This is not me yet exactly what was following me for most of the walk.
Taking fire for a walk.jpg
It's done strip by strip to stop the fire getting too big and blowing embers into the farms. Of interest locations burnt in prior years had native grass and shrubs making a comeback. The Phalaris grass in this picture is almost a weed and goes up like petrol right now. Phalaris is native to the Mediterranean region. Good cattle and sheep food in winter spring - a fire risk plus in summer.
Interesting Structure Fire training over the weekend Tripple time was wonderful of course 3 times zero is
In 2020, the UL FSRI team captured a new side-by-side burn comparison of natural vs. synthetic furnished rooms. Since the original comparison video was shared in 2009, UL FSRI has repeated the same experiment several times with similar results in terms of flashover times between the natural and synthetic furnished rooms. The flashover data from those experiments has been incorporated into this new video that has been captured in much crisper detail than its predecessor thanks to vast video technology enhancements.
The timeline from detection, report- dispatch, arriving on scene and rolling out to fight a fire is in this link https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/ArticleDo...e_30102017.pdf
The Flashover timing makes the Idea of going into a building even with SCBA in almost all turn out times almost a waste of time? Noting of course a 'Fire alarm' may-would have allowed escape.
A flashover is the near-simultaneous ignition of most of the directly exposed combustible material in an enclosed area. When certain organic materials are heated, they undergo thermal decomposition and release flammable gases. Flashover occurs when the majority of the exposed surfaces in a space are heated to their autoignition temperature and emit flammable gases (see also flash point).
Flashover normally occurs at between 500 °C (932 °F) and 600 °C (1,112 °F)
Next up training may be Driving truck in Code one- Lights and Sirens in a hurry. Then perhaps Diving gear out of the water- SCBA rather than my SCUBA The Flash timing makes the Idea of going into a building even with SCBA in almost all turn out times almost a waste of time? Noting of course a 'Fire alarm' may-would have allowed escape.
