    Weekend in Whyalla 4

Well, spent the weekend with my club running the 4th Weekend in Whyalla.

Heres some pics of the day spent south of Whyalla.

The area is Point Gibon 22kms south of Cowell.

Note: I drove this dune in reverse!!! (Upwards) this was the first go, made it on the second attempt! Toysan owners were gobsmacked Plus I was in High Range (in fact whole day I spent in High Range) gotta love a chipped TD5 and 35's

    My D2 (Dad driving)

Thats my wifes Suzuki, after nearly flipping the thing when a wind gust threw it over as she crested the dune. (I'll post initial landing shot soon)
The thing pivotted on the RHF wheel, showing me the undercarraige (I was in the defender) before rolling on its side then re-righting itself.
We really thought she'd finally rolled it

    Cheers

One way of enjoying 4wding in remote country locations...buy the whole family a 4wd each and head bush...nice photo's mike, bet the wifey enjoyed her manouvre..check the seat for bite marks
Dune drivin is good fun, but getting too much air = damage, you'll soon find any corrosion, cause it just snaps off....my bro inlaw in a hilux roll over wgn 4" lift go some good air over a dune but on landing his back wheels stopped his front diff from spewing out the back of the truck..tore the lot off on the nose dive..days before digital so no photo's but a hell of a recovery..had to tie the fron diff on after hilifting it just to tow it out to the road where a real tow truck took it home for spares...

Heres the initial landing before the spin and roll attempt.

NOTE: Emma wasnt going fast. In fact slower than the previous gentle cresting run she had done.

The rear windows were out of the vehicle and there was a HUGE gust of wind as she crested.

It was enough to shove my Defender 2+ feet across the dune (I was parked) and literally lifted the rear of the zook as it crested, throwing it offline.

Very scary Tomb raider.....cup of tea and change the underpants time. Probably worse for you watching though, she no doubt had her eyes closed.

Good driving, you taught her well. I bet there was a pause for a change of underwear.
Glad that it turned out ok and no body was hurt. It sure puts a damper on things when that happens

The truck is fine, she was fine straight after, we just guided her back down the hill...
