I must admit I'm a bit concerned about getting rid of it in a year or two

Having said that I think a lot of the problem is the original owners are as per carsales tradition asking over the top prices for them.

I believe I've found one I could own for around 13k that's very low K. At that price it's exceptional value compared to everything else on the market. I'm hoping that I could put a good price on it and shift it more quickly than everyone else.

A mate of mine has had one since new, for use as a car for the family. It is about 3 years old now and he has always been very impressed with it. Like said earlier it has storage spots everywhere - very handy for kids stuff, toys etc.

My reference to your drug taking was because Capt. was looking at an affordable practical 2nd car for the family, and you suggested a TD4.

They are cheap 2nd's because they retailed at $20k drive away a few years ago, and they are not Nippon crap.

Interestingly, 4wd magazine ran a number of articles a couple of years ago that followed a trip where a couple of guys drove a Scenic around the world - including through Australia and it seems to have handled the trip pretty well. Don't know whether it was the "quality"of the car or the sensible driving of the drivers.

It's just my bias coming out - in my experiences I have found Freelanders sh*te.

Rumours persist Freelander is an english deriviate of an Afrikaans word for "outhouse"

The hi-jack cracks me up

We are not talking about getting rid of the defender to clear things up. The freelander would be too long for our garage and necessitate the sale of the LOTUS. Not happening

We went on a club run the other day in the MINI and I had my daughter screaming hysterically in the back saying "I'm stuck daddy" all the while pushing me in the back. Meanwhile I'm in the front and I can't heel and toe or get gearchanges because I'm squashed

Vlad, this is only an interim measure until this comes onto the market at the end of 2007 or early 2008.

If we don't get the MINI then we will get a golf GTI or similar. My mojo couldn't handle driving this car for more than a year or two.
