    Freelander 2

    Official Unveiling

From the launch at the British Motor show 2006:

    (note exuberant applause)

GBP 22,000 sounds reasonable by their standards but I wonder what it will cost here ? Surely in order to compete in that segment it would have to be within spitting distance of the Xtrail and so on ?

    Through the Atlas Mountains:

Some good footage from the Germans (filmed in Iceland by the looks)

    Ho Ho Ho! 22,000 quid = $55,000.

    They'd have to be joking.

Given the list price of an HSE Freelander is already $49,000 I wouldn't be supprised if the F2 was $55,000 if and when it gets here.

Its market is not the x-trail, RAV etc but the BMW X3 so price is going to be heaps.

Standard LRA pricing strategy - top of the line model below nudges into territory of base model next up.

Eg Disco 3 goes into RR Sport pricing, RR Sport goes into RR Vogue. Freelander now goes into Disco 3 pricing.

I wish LRA would get some prices and information to the dealers, as they know nothing about it. I think pricing will start from high 40's personally.

That's too much for ANY 4wd without a transfer case.

    Shame that.

I would have thought it would be better placed to compete with the rav4, santefe etc, but it's going to be too expensive. Pity because it would slay them. However it should steal a few sales from the X3, but that's very overpriced itself. A bit cheaper and they would sell a lot more.
