Bloked radiator or a dodgy thermostst, either of these can cause your overheating woes. Was the water pump replaced when you had your heads done?

Just a couploe of ideas to get you started. Radiator sounds like it's the issue, it's happen to me before

Radiator cap?

could be numerous probs,what was the original reason for the head gasket replacement ,if it was a previous o/heating prob,did you get the heads machined while they where off,possible warped/cracked heads resulting in pressure into the system

do you run thermo fans or normal,if thermo check the operation (and direction,dont laugh ,thumpers was running backwards when i bought it!!!!!!) of the thermostat

Where is the coolant going?
into the oil?
if so front cover gasket has failed.

Thanks guys. Water is not going into oil its just pressurising the cooling system forcing coolant to blow past radiator cap. Heads were not machined when gaskets replaced and I suspect possible cracked head.

You have given me a few extra avenues to check prior to pulling motor down again.
