I can remember driving my Pug 404 loaded to the hilt and towing 3 bikes on a trailer from Melbourne to Traralgon (about 160 kms and not much freeway) and filling up for less than $2.00! Seems like it costs that much to drive the Rangie out of the drive these days.

    First car - 1968 SIIA 109 - which I still own!!!

Bought it while still at school for $500 (it had been rolled and was in poor shape). Rebuilt it during school holidays, and registered it just before I started uni.

In addition, from 1982-93 I had several company cars, and after 1989 my wife had a VW beetle and then a Ford Laser up to when we got the S2a

The above covers well over fifty years of driving, the last 48 with the benefit of a licence. When I started petrol (only one grade existed) was around 3/2 a gallon (or $0.32 for 4.5litres for the younger generation).

My first car - that I bought with my own hard-earned - was a 1973 Triumph 2500PI - Lucas electrics and injection system. Off the road more than on. Nice when on.
