Thread: Got Molly going !!

Yup, got her going (again). She stopped running just before heading off to the Cape as I was about to try and bleed her brakes ..

Turns out the culprit was (badly) degraded fuel lines. With the help of one of my brothers today we checked the fuel pump diaphram, changed the fuel filter, then moved on to changing the fuel lines.

It was changing the fuel lines that did the trick, once we did that for the first tank she fired up and ran beautifully (though with a little backfiring).

We also found that the valve assembly used for swapping between fuel tanks was leaking, however as we didn't have the necessary tools available to recondition it instead we opted for tightening it a bit and that solved that problem.

I then proceeded to bleed the brakes using one of those little 1-man brake bleeding kits, fired her up and took her for a drive around the back yard

I was nervous, scared, and excited all at once The anticipation was dreadful, but she drove around the backyard pretty much without a hitch.

Only fault I can pick at the moment is the clutch, when she's moving and I depress the clutch fully I can feel a metallic clunk-clunk-clunk against my foot. My brother reckons it's something in the gearbox that has seized, and if I drive her a bit more then maybe it'll unseize - else I'll have to drop the gearbox out to have a look

All in all that I am ecstatic that she's drivable (at least around the backyard)
