I am not aware of a setting which lowers the car at high speeds.

    Ha ha ha

No Chris, I found out that that lowering is only set to activate automatically when you're below the high tide line on a soft sandy beach!

Not a bad effort - but you've gotta do some more to be impressive. My old 92 Defender 200tDi used to do 150km/h up here in the NT - if you wound it up for long enough

Mind you the high range in the transfer case was changed to Discovery gears as the Defender ones wind out too quick!

I have got myself one question though - what speed rating is your tyres? I know my old muddies used to be 160km/h, but a lot of people up here in the NT get caught out by that!

The Euro guys reckon it lowers over 160kph but only after 30sec or something like that.

The standard tyres are V rated (240kph)

I had done "indicated" 160ish in the old Rangie once, down a long hill flat stick. Bloody hairy but very exciting.

On a trip to Victoria last year I noticed my GPS logged a speed of 200km/h when I was overtaking (downhill) - no, I wasn't on a motorbike.

Surely it was a GPS error?

If we are getting into bragging rites - my 200,000km L series freelander with only 70kw on tap will do 160, so a D3 doing 160 is nuffin.
