Car Buying Groups, any experience anyone?

    Hey All,

Well the torture continues, I have had a few bites re: the selling of my D3, but nothing has come to fruition so far. Bit like being in a never ending relationship.........you are sad to see if end, but a relief at the same time. Plus having had it showroom detailed makes it even harder . Anyhoo before I tear up at the continual thought of parting ways with "mmmmyyyyy ppprrreeeccciiiooouussss" , has anyone had any experience with car buying groups.

I had a call today and going to take the D3 in as they say they are keen to have a look and potentially buy. Thought it can't hurt to at least see what they come back with, but are they most likely to be no better than what a dealer would offer?? If they come close chances are I will unload it, even if it means tipping in some $$$ to sell it, but just wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with these sort of places.

Fingers crossed as it pains me no end not being able to take the beast off road anymore, and am hanging to get my hands on a new beasty and let rip . Will keep ya's posted,

    Regards

    Stevo

I wouldn't waste my time - seriously. These guys are the biggest shonks - all of them. I had an 02MY 110 for sale and I got a call from an auction/wholesaler and since I was going past anyway thought I'd give it a go.

They did the usual umming & ahh-ing before saying that they could only get maybe $25K for it so the offered me $20-$22K. I sold it that week-end for $35K!

I tried a couple of these mobs earlier in the year whilst trying to sell a 1999 diesel Jeep Cherokee (highly under-rated vehicle - not many of them sold back then). Again I was given the usual whinge that they were slow-movers off the yard and they could only offer $12K. Even though I did have to wait a bit, I got $18K.

Only if you are about to die and need money desperately for a kidney would I suggest trying them. If you can wait - then wait. Summer is coming and people are starting to think about camping and holidays. 4WD sales usually pick up about now so have faith.

In your case it doesn't help that a guy's got a silver D3 V8 HSE for sale in Sydney for $62,500 but I'll bet this is still more than the car-wholesale shonks will offer you.

Thanks for the feedback mate, am still going to go and see what they say and take it from there. Also I have seen that silver d3, it is a 5 seater. not 7 and doesnt have the premium sat nav, stereo, sunroof and alpine roofs and quite a few other things. I had another potential buyer bring that up, but as explained they werent comparing apples with apples, plus mine is in black . Will post tomorrow what the offer was,

    Regards

Hi Steve, they have most likely being keeping an eye on it to see how long it has been listed. Once it has been listed for sale for a while and they think you are desperate enough they ring you and offer you some stupid price in the hope that your are desperate enough to take their offer. Matt

Well I went up today to this car buying mob, and at this stage its wait and see what they can come up with. As I explained to them Im not desperate to sell it and if they come back with a ridiculous price, then seeya. So at this stage fingers crossed.
