SHMBO "Pathetic add. Why not ban cows they cause more methane gas!"
My response you know where thy can shove that. Even my 130 uses less fuel than some of the sedans out there.
Clearly Greenpeace are out to win the hearts and minds of all 4wd owners (not)

No, theyre bashing toyo drivers after all it was a gxl cruiser wasnt it ....
My Deefer says I care about the environment.
I get about 10km/l, thats more economical than a lot of "family" cars, the fuel I burn is eaisier to refine and doesnt put out much in the way of carcenogenics (well compared to unleaded). In a pinch I can run it on the fat from my local junk food shop.
The body is made of recycled coke cans and since only 2million or so have been made and 70%of these are still on the road (someone link to the topgear presentation on the series I) thats not much landfill when Im eventually done with it.
I wonder what make/type of car is driven by the person these nuff nuff fnergle heads goto when their electric car runs out of batteries and needs a tow.
And I wonder how many times the line "umm mate I need to move a bean bag(insert other object bigger than a shoebox), can I put it in your 4x4 it wont fit on my scooter" gets uttered by these Idiots

I wonder how Greenpeace gets around. I don't see them rowing their blowup boats out in the ocean!
What about getting from country to country? Do they flap their wings or just hop on a jet like normal people?
The world would not be developed without the 4x4.
At least we Land Rover drivers don't drive too much as parts and repairs are too costly!![]()
Bunch of wallies they would use a 4x4 to get out and rescue and find the animals they are trying to protect.
Or if they didn't the person paid to do it would.
The world would not be facing the problems it is, if it wasn't developed.Originally Posted by barryj
It makes plenty of sense, I think. Why drive a large fourwheel drive to the office? Fair enough if you actually use it for work, but if you just drive to work (on road) and park it out the front or where ever whats the point?
Now let fly with the hippy slangin. I can take it.![]()

How many cars do you want us to own? I don't see too much wrong with owning only 1 and using it for 'normal transport' as well as off-road.Originally Posted by D110V8D
I drive my V8 Disco to work (170kms one way) and park it in front of the office.
Although once I'm there I tear around forestry areas in it.
If I don't do it in my V8 Disco then I take one of our V8 F250s instead
However regardless of where I worked and what I did I would drive my Disco as it is my only car. Maybe the ****** in the ad takes it offroad on weekends. Maybe Greenpeace got it all wrong and no one likes him for some other reason. Maybe he is a member of Greenpeace and that is why no one likes him?
Very good point - in fact the amount of driving you do has a far bigger influence on your contribution to environmental degradation than what you drive. (Consider - if you drive, for example, a hybrid doing 4l/100km but do the same amount of driving, you use the more fuel and produce more greenhouse emissions than if you cut you driving to 25% and drove a V8 Rangerover. And most people probably can do this by such things as avoiding unnecessary trips, car pooling, using public transport, walking for short trips etc. And a four wheel drive running on biodiesel has less greenhouse contribution than an electric car - especially in NSW where most electricity is coal generated.Originally Posted by barryj
I would not be too concerned about Greenpeace - they have lost a lot of the credibility they had originally because of a long history of deliberate lying and falsification.

They are really just saying that 4x4 owners are selfish *****s that use too much fuel.
What about all the boat owners that chew the fuel up in there normal car then use twice as much on the weekend in a thirsty V8 boat.
Most large boats have V8 or more engines in them.
So maybe they should point a finger there.
