    I was sitting waiting for a tram the other day in St Kilda, watching an RBT on the other side of the road. They were waving cars past, kept waving them past....then ooh a flash BMW, pull him in, next a Porsche, then a Volvo XC-90. They were only pulling in the flash cars. they had them there for a while too and were doing more than the breathalyzer, other drug tests?

    Yeah but what dio they do to them. In the Uk if you got caught driving with out a licence. Then you went to court and they banned your licence for 3 years.
    Now everyone in the real world would look at that and say HOW. they don't have a licence, hence why they are there, so how can you ban it, and also they don't mind driving with out a licence so banning them is not really going to stop them

    They had a girl who was caught drink drivng at 13 They banned her from drivng for 3 years. In the Uk the age you can drive is 17 so you would asume that the 3 years would start on here 17th birthday. Nah don't be stupid . It started the day she left court. So the ban would end a year before she was legally able to have a drivers licence ,mmmmm

    I think it may vary slightly from state to state, but the NSW situation is:-

    "Australia wide, 24 hours a day, your CTP insurance covers:

    * your passengers
    * other road users, such as drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, motor cyclists and pillion passengers
    * injuries caused through the use of a trailer

    It does not cover:

    * you for personal injury if you are the driver at fault in an accident
    * damage to property or other vehicles" (from www.maa.nsw.gov.au)

    In addition to this from 1/10/06 there is a special treatment for children - these are covered regardless of fault (any other claim has to prove a driver is at fault, so what this does is extend the cover to children who run across the road in front of your car for example). Note that this emphasises the fact that the insurance provides legal liability cover for the driver, not coverage for those injured - they are only covered if a driver is at fault. If I remember correctly the Victorian scheme is different in that it is not fault based and provides coverage for death or injury regardless of who if anyone is at fault.
