I was really impressed, if i was looking to buy another 4wd for family purposes and keep the disco for off roading i reckon i would look long and hard at the Pajero, of course a D3 would be great but not really realistic. I also read somewhere that the DiD goes better than the V6 Petrol model, use bugger all fuel and are pretty good off road because of the electronics. In terms of value for money they crap all over the Prado, and you cant get Jackeroo's anymore. matt

The guy's a Jeep salesman and doing his job - never let the facts get in the road of a good story!

As for the Jeep - gotta find that video where the Cherokee drops its guts on a small berm - gearboxes do really fall out!

Why not get a late model Discovery, there's plenty for sale at half (or less) of the new price and often driven by mums taking the kids to school.

    Jeep lesser than a Freelander?
    Jeep better than a D3
Openly advocating the merits of a Paj on aulro

As Roy as HG would say "people, you need to go into the house of mirrors, and have a good hard look at yourselves"

What's next, I ask? Yeah, you think it's a joke, but before you know it, the rot's set in and someone like Ron, will be considering buying a Tojo

Ok, not really the done thing on AULRO, but just helping out with choosing a vehicle when a Land Rover model has been ruled out, not that bad is it? Matt

Just considering options and have considered exactly that but have decided to get a new car for retirement and have an old cheap RR or something like for the trips.

Considering 2wd cars too but like the idea that if I am on a Sunday afternoon drive in the normal car and see somewhere I might want to go like a nice track or beach I would stand half a chance of doing it. Hence 4wds around $40-$45k on the road - something that will be reliable but not bust the retirement dollars. Others under consideration are Vitara, Forrester but they are not diesel. New Freelander will be too expensive and while it will have Terrain Response it will still not have a low range capability.

The Jeep Cherokee seems a good compromise but if Disco sales continue to be average maybe I might pick up a good demo or end of year run out at a good price.

All options are still open for consideration.

Maybe AULRO could take over as Landrover Importers and market and price the things properly
