The more i read about it the more impressed i am. I still feel land rover are making a mistake not adding a T/C but they have added terrain response which will make it relatively capable. It looks alot better to. Matt

I would certainly think about it in a couple of years as a second carfor the family

The current Freelander is a lot more capable than people give it credit for even though it does'nt have low range it does have a low first and decent traction control and will go further than you would think.
Having said that i do think the new one will be quite a good car.
Oooooo.......pics of the Defender have given me a chubby. But then again any pics of a Landy gives me a chubby.![]()

I agree - the D3 is too much for me as a second car, but a new freelander would be great. Looks very schmick.
I was almost going to chip in with "Me Too" but thought that was getting a bit "brokeback mountain" so will refrainOooooo.......pics of the Defender have given me a chubby. But then again any pics of a Landy gives me a chubby. That said I do concur with the thought, Id almost hang onto the D3 a little longer and get the new fender..maybe depends on what SWMBO says

P.S. Plus trade the XR6 in for the Freelander, nice looking bit of kit that
Agree with most of what you say except about 1st gear - in my view it is far too high and even has problems on normal roads on step hills - the auto covers this problem with torque slip but the clutch in the manual is just not up too the task with such a high first gear and the amount of clutch slip required - having said that the freelander is a great second car and the new one will be just as great if the pricing is right - I bet it is not.Originally Posted by Wortho
