Ok I have settled on a disco, but I am still up in the air about diesel. I would prefer a diesel any day of the week but its the buy price thing. Does anyone know just how many k's a diesel is good for. EG will it do 500k's?

out of a 300 TDi should get about 10ltr per 100K easy
I was getting that with a loaded up 90 and a camper trailer on
The big thing with a diesel is if you give it a good kick it does not use that much more fuel. But if you give a V8 a kick it will kick you back alot harder in the pocket

I've had both a 95 Disco V8 and currently a 92 Rangie V8, they are both fantastic and not really a lot between them IMO, would far rather have a Rangie though, just like the look more personally, and you feel you sit 'in' it, rather that 'on' it with the Disco ( just a personal thing )

the buy price difference between a classic Rangie V8 and a TDI Disco will buy you an awfull lot of petrol as well, more so if it's not your main vehicle.

Which ever one you get, they'll be great,

agree you have hit the nail on the head.
That is what i find the differance is between them. The disco just does not feel quite there compaired to the rangie
Not that i am saying the Disco is crap just its not a Rangie

It was said when they were released that the engines were good for about 600000km but only when serviced properly. I would say to get that you would need an oil change every 5000km and be maticulous with maintenance and things like timing belts. Matt

Funny thing is I had a different experiance to you all together. The rangie window line came up to my knee and I felt like it was not encompassing at all, much more a sit on top vehicle. The disco being a newer design is still high but the window line is higher so I felt more car like. One main point is that I have not owned either vehicle.
