    Show us your cockpit mods!

Well we all know the cockpit of a Defender is not designed - it just sort of exists. And it certainly seems that Landrover never really cared much for ergonomics. We also know that until the 2007 model comes out, all current and earlier Defenders have no real dashboard to speak of - just a shelf to stick a couple of critical lights, a speedo, fuel and temperature gauge. It's the way it has always been and we are definitely approaching the end of an era.

Consequently many of us have taken the blank canvas presented to us and peppered the interior with all kinds of kit, useful and otherwise, to make our lives complete. Radios, extra dials, locker switches, a tacho or two, cup holders, sat-nav, bottle openers - the list goes on.

So what have people done - and let's see some pics. Cockpit only - let's not get into rear storage (this is enjoying a run in another thread). I want to see what clever bits of stuff people have found to organise things - or those who have just kept adding crap and kind of been playing tetris with it to see where it falls...

    Begin.

8" lcd touch screen went in mine on the week just past. Took some buggerising around to mount it but in the end Melon came up with the solution. Not exactly where I want it but close enough. Now to get the reverse camera, trackranger and maps and mount the laptop. Will post some pics when finished.

I think there's a thread hijack here by Rob (if not another sort of hijack entirely). I can see the split screen. That's not a Defender, it's a Series III. Series cockpit mods should have their own thread...

Series IIA actually ! Hell of a job getting the gauges mount on the canvas of the roof , and had to modify the steering wheel to give access to some of the more mundane switches and dials

Will do. Will use my laptop that the screen is buggered on as its feed.
