There was a stand at the 4x4 show with a heap of very nice alloy checker plate boxes of every size and shape imaginable.

Yep - That's the place I was thinking of - just down the road from Range Rov. I think they make trailers too

I called into Mitre 10 today. Normally they have a box in exactly the dimensions I want, but was told that they are almost impossible to get at the moment but hope to have some in, in the next few weeks. They did have a Gal box which was about 1450x500x400. It is too wide but the price of $145 was pretty good. I will check out Bunnings and see what they have, otherwise I will check out the place in mitcham but I reckon the Aluminium boxes will be a fair bit more expensive.

    G'Day Adam

That address I gave was correct for the company that was at the 4x4 show and the cattledog I picked up gives their web address as:
    www.toolboxcentre.com.au
I can't seem to get onto it at the moment .

They give prices in their cattledog and a lockable, aluminium (1.6mm checkerplate) box with gas struts, 1000x600x600 weighs 12kgs and goes for $500.00 ............ Part# A-REC-B-C-S-0106060

    The closest size listed in Gal (1mm) 1050x500x400 weighs 22kgs but is $240.00 ......... Part# G-REC-B-C-S-0105040

I've got an Alum. one on my wish list

    Adam,
Check out the Kincrome box http://www.transquip.com.au/product....287&PARENT=391 at www.transquip.com.au $191 + $14 shipping. SO I think you should be able to do something under $200 but mybe not alloy checker plate
