    Watagans Directions

    Folks,

Am looking at going up to the Watagans im WOMC with a couple of mates ( various kinds of FWD's ), comming from Sydney, where do we head?

All vehicles are well equiped, and we don't mind smacking them about a bit, but don't want to trash them as they are principally standard trucks, a couple have lifts though, but that's it, so what are the good 'challenging tracks' that you know of, plus want to find a bit of mud for laughs, more looking for tracks that get us from A to B,

Any help would be cool and when we set a date, everyone's welcome to join us,

    cheers,

    Ray

Check out Dobbos trip report from last weekend & see what we did. If it's up your alley, then we can give you some directions to those spots. These are at the southern end of the Watagans & are easy to reach from Sydney.

Get the 1:25000 maps of the area (Dooralong & Cooranbong I think) & the Central Coast Forest map is handy to have too.

Have you taken your RR off road before - your bull bar might have a redesigned lower edge over some of the rocky sections.

Funny you mention my bullbar, went up to ZigZag a month ago, came back looking very different , the bottom edge was a very efficient plow...lopped it off last weekend, approach angles are now very good!

have been offroad in it before, Been up to Stockton, ZigZag, Newnes State Forrest, some very good stuff, pretty much all of my offroading was in my old Disco and Rangies back in NZ, all mud based really, this sandstone and rock is all new to me.

I'm sure my Weapon of mud distribution would like a play in the mountains along side your weapon of mass consumption

Tell us when, giving as much notice as humanly possible and we'll go.

Problem is if you want lots and lots of mud, you better come back in 6 months time

I work in Wyong and I'm lost allready!!!!

Easiest way in is through Jiliby and can be there in 15mins from Wyong or 10 mins from Morisset off Martinsville Rd or 20mins from Watagan Rd

Toppo maps to get are Morisset & Duralong

For you maybe, and anyone familiar with the area, but from Sydney this way is the easiest, or carry on till Yarramalong and in through there, but if your not familiar with that area as well then peats ridge is the easiest from Sydney, ya can't get much simpler than left, left, then right and your there

I'm assuming he's not familiar with the whole area, and most people know the Pacafic Hwy, hence the directions to go that way.
    Cheers Baz.
