Gold Coast
I just got back from a week on the Gold Coast. Did all the tourist things and spent quite a bit of time on the beach. Its been 20 years since I had been and things have changed alot. I usually avoid tourist type destinations but we won a trip and my family were looking forward to it. (thanks for the invite Josh but we ran out of time). I hired a car to get around as that was the most practical thing to do. I cant believe how courteous Queensland drivers (and people in general) are compared to the those in Melbourne. Seemed to me that most people were happy to drive at the speed limit or below with about a tenth of the hoons there are here. People even let you in so you can change lanes and make the turns you need to do. Perhaps its just the Gold Coast and local people being used to tourists but its a pity other people are not as friendly and courteous. Its strange how you get used to bad manners and drivers thinking every trip is a race with other drivers.
