    Visiting Tassie next week

Howdy all. I'll be taking the Disco over the drink to Tassie next week and there's a chance I'll be there for the weekend at a loss for things to do. I've never been before, dunno ***** from clay or which way is up. Dunno where I'll be staying when. Good plan huh?

SO. What's good to do or see, and who's up for a drink somewhere sometime? I may well end up being there over the weekend too.

I might be up for a drink if you are in my part of town on the weekend. As for the what to see, well that's a freaking long list!!!!! Are you planning on being in a particular area? might narrow things down. Also, use the search function on tassie or tasmania and you should find a few threads from recently on things to do and see.

That would be right! I am going up to Sydney from Friday 24th so I wont be in the state! As Phoenix said, HEAPS to see. If your in Hobart, you have Mt Wellington, Salamanca, the beaches (not that its the weather for it!), Jeffereys Track, Brunny Island etc etc... then theres the east coast, with Port Arthur and the east cost drive... damn too much to list

Was there last year and had a ball. Caught up with Phoenix and his lady for a drink and meal at one of the Pubs (one of the highlights of the trip ) The wife loved the Salamanca market. Not your usual markets with everthing the same. Plenty of things to see and do.

Ok, sounds like more of a plan than I had before! I still have to finalise what's happening when, complicated by having to vote next weekend.

    Stay tuned for more confusion...

good thing about tasmania is you can drive around the entire coast in comfortable 5 days and see it all if you spend another 3 days exploring the middle bit

What the????? I've lived here for 6 years and I've travelled around a bit too, but I have only seen probably 10% of whats on offer here!!!
Come on down, you'll never leave, or you'll find yourself coming back quick smart like we did.

PS, I might be up for some driving etc , let me know some dates and times, as we are south of Hobart, in KIngston.

Been over to Tassie 5 or 6 times. Mostly bushwalking but have driven around most of the state too.

Best easy scenic drive I have done is down the west coast through the pieman area. The ferry across the river at Corrina on a sunny day cant be beat.

There is a great track from Granville harbour to ???? cant remember at the minute. Get a good map and have a look. Follows the coast line with beach access here and there.

Central highlands area is fantastic too. Lots of lakes and forest.

Tassie is one of the best kept secrets in the world imo. A weekend is not long enough.
    Cheers
