She'll get whatever car she decides on much more cheaply in the city and have a wider selection to choose from.

IMHO a diesel GQ patrol SWB would be the go, better yet an MQ, with THAT suspension you can be confident she won't be going anywhere too fast.

Love the Land Crab, learnt to drive in one and how to take a fwd in places where 4wds would go. Comfy seats too!

The Mighty Land Crab. A friend had one - couldn't go up hills. 1800cc low-comp engine in a body the size of a Commodore. Very comfy but I think it was the sand ladders that won the rallys not the cars. Besides - where would you find the parts these days? I also liked the way the radiator was on the side drawing from the wheel arch and the grille purely for show.

I need to find a land crab. The back door seals are the same as those used on my Elan. Because they are pre-loved they don't affect the door fit, and because they are the back they are usually in good nick

I still see the occasional Land Crab floating around - usually with a serious rear camber problem.

From memory, the air comes in through the grille, then out through the radiator into the wheel arch.

You're probably right there, BigJon, I don't remember looking in with it running. Was just struck with the use of fanbelt to drive a lateral radiator, assumed it had the same "puller" configuration as a standard radiator fan.
