Locusts have rocked into town

Well all the waiting is over,the advance party hit yesterday avo,today they are flying thru by the million.
Came home expecting to find the garden under seige,funny thing is they dont seem to be stopping for a feed YET,just appear to be on a mission passing thru.
Im tempted to leave covering my vegie garden up with shadecloth for another day,as that does enough damage itself by time you put it on then remove it.

Last year during the big plague I got a 4L container of poison to spray them with. The printed instructions that came with it said that it was registered as a vegie pest spray, but only allowed for locusts as a 1 off

I did spray it on the vegies, but then I didn't water them so I never got a taste

Ive heard all the horror storys,last time we had them they were much thicker,but today is only the first day.
All we had to do was run the sprinklers at the end of the day,got stuff all damage,they dont like it at all,and when its hot during the day they are too busy trying to get to their destination,wherever that may be.

Get your old greasy Land Rover & Tractor engines & gearboxes etc and give them a light spray of molasses (diluted in hot water). Hopefully the locusts will eat it and all the grime off - a bit like cleaning bones with ants.

If this hair brain scheme works let me know.

Andrew, try and keep the locusts there please!

Most of the crops here are off already, so that's no problem, it's just that they take ages to clean off. And their body fluids eat duco!

I suppose there'll be a few overheating problems again. Last time we had a bad plague, loads of cars cooked.

I actually have a plastic 44 filled with mole arses for de rusting stuff,works a treat,just leave it in the drum for a week or so and everything is new,WARNING leave it in by forgeting and it may disolve,TRUE STORY

We used to buy molasses from the sugar mill in Nambour by the 44gal drum for the cows. One day we went up there to get 2 drums ( all the trailer could cope with) and sat in the queue waiting our turn behind a couple of semis with about 100 drums to fill.
Filling done thru 2 in hose from the tank, hand valve on the hose. Our turn comes...Numpty puts hose in drum, opens valve, pressure forces hose to jump out of the drum and before he could grab it...Missus Numpty gets hit with full force of hot molasses in face!!

Molasses in her hair, all over her front, all over in fact

Numpty started to look a bit grim...I burst out laughing and so did everyone else within cooee...it was so funny

Glad we were in the LR...washed off what I could under the tap and then had to sit all the way home in a pool of molasses in the front seat

And he's us thinking you were naturally this sweet

(I had other comments but they were a bit rude so that one will have to do)
