jacar sells some good ones that you can fit yourself and as for the immobilizer I know some people who wire up a fuel shutoff soleniod to the fuel line, one outfit I used to work for sold immobilizers that would shut off hydraulic lines and could be used in clutch lines also had a key that would shut off the flow.

Its not hard to do, there are many kits on the market that can be fitted DIY or pay someone to fit. May advice is to find an insurance broker and have them find the insurance, its free and you get the best deal, there are other insurance companies besides the big name ones. Matt

For my old dunga, I just went ext. 3rd party through RACQ. This is one reason why I like old LR's![]()
Since I had a few insurance 'issues' a couple of years back, the premium is a bit high but at least I'm coverd. Should drop next as I am re-establishing my rating![]()

When we tried to insure my son's Hillman Minx, the NRMA didn't want to insure it as it wasn't standard - it had a white roof and the body colour was different. They wouldn't believe they all came from the factory like that, two tone paint was standard on that model.

But were you going through normal NRMA insurance or NRMA Classic - I guess it was the former as I am sure the later would have been ok with it - NRMA Classic rates and "demands" for classic cars was reasonable last time I checked.Originally Posted by p38arover
As for the original post I had my disco insured with AAMI (cost was about $550 per year with 70% ncb) and it never had an immobiliser and I ended up making two claims on the car and never had any problems.
