    Discovery 1, Commodore 0

Today I was stopped waiting to turn right into a carpark. I was about 30m plus of an intersecton that has a round-a-bout.

Just as I was waiting for a van to pass so I could turn, there was a tyre screech, a bang and the soud of breaking glass.

Land Rover didn't even rock! I looked into the rear vision mirror to see what happened and there was a commmodore sticking out of the rear of my car.

I pulled into the car park and got out. The Commodore took off!

For those in WA it was a white commodore with personalised plates 'WEZ'.

I checked the rear. There was a few bits of commodore duco on the bar, but absolutley no damage whatsoever. No dents, scratches or movement.

I think I was pretty lucky that I had the Kaymar bar on. I'd say he took off because he wasn't insured, knew it was his fault, and did it in front of about 50+ people! If I'd had the original plastic bumper, I'd probably have some expensive damage that I'd have had to claim on my own insurance, not to mention the vehicle downtime which I can't afford.

If it's true what the other thread says and Kaymar are ceasing production of the D3 bar, Someone else should start! I wouldn't be without a steel rear bar now!

    Cest la vie!

Did you report it to the police? I would. You can't be sure your chassis isn't bent.

Sad to hear but glad everything is ok.
Are you going to report it to the police and get the police to book the git. Surely driving away from a accendent is an offence, and as you say he did in front of 50 + people.

I told the police, but they weren't interested! I might go and fill in a report anyway. Just to cover myself.

I doubt that the chassis is bent as there's no evidence of anything not sitting properly. All the panels are fine, everthing works, and the bar itself hasn't even buckled a millimeter. The D3 chassis is remarkably strong and I woulud have thought a blow strong enough to bend the chassis would have caused the bar to bend a bit.

There's no-one here who can check, so I'll have to wait for the next service which will be in January sometime

Yeah, I drive around here a lot due to the nature of my work and sooner or later I'll catch up with him.

But I think he'll be feeling a little sorry for himself now. There'd be a few dollars damage to his car, he did it in front of enough people in this town for someone to know him. It'll cost him financially and from the embarrassment.

Joan was in the passenger seat (i was taking her to her belly dancing) and when she heard the noise, she didn't even know that it was us that had been hit till I told her!

That was a good suggestion of yours. Pity I didn't think of it at the time. I've even got the STT's on at the moment. Oh, well, maybe next time!

Reminds me of the time a Corolla ran into the back of the County. Took me all of thirty seconds to brush the white paint off the tow bar - the corolla had the bonnet concertina-ed about halfway back to the windscreen. I had stopped, not all that abruptly, to avoid a blind, elderly pedestrian - and was abused by the driver of the Corolla for my trouble.

mm I had it with a rangie very much the same. A lad hit me who was a 17 year old just passed his test. His ford Feista hit the back of the rangie and then took us 30 mins to get the rangie tow bar out of his engine. As for when i pulled of to the side of the road he no choice but to follow.
The tow bar went thought the rad and into the engine. Had to explain to the bloke why he could not drive the car away . Told him my car was alright and i did not want to claim of him
So left him and carried on my way

Havn't had anything like that hapen to my bestie yet but did in a old Mazda 929. Other car was quite a mess but did a runner dragging bits of their car with them. Also had an F250 up the back of an old Dato once. Took me two lanes at 80kmh to keep it strait. Got home and it never went again.
