Are some of them open on a Saturday now? When I lived down there it was public service hours only, 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.Originally Posted by Ace
There are relatively few official post offices these days, most are "Licenced Post Offices" with owner/operators. These can be bought and sold. When a friend was looking to buy himself a job as employers dont want to know a 55y.o. man with a limp, he found that offices that don't open on Saturday were priced at a premium over 6 day offices.
And, back in the sixties, I drove an unregistered car from Sydney to Brisbane on a "Permit to drive Unregistered Vehicle" issued at Five Dock motor registry, (obtaining this was in itself was a exercise in bureaucratic induced frustration) which was carefully explained to me as being only good in NSW and I should get a Qld. permit at the first available location over the border. I left Sydney Friday evening and went to Wallangarra police station Saturday morning for the permit. I was told with the usual good manners and tact of a Qld. copper in those days that that sort of paperwork was issued in office hours, 9-5 Monday to Friday. He also informed that I had better not drive that car as it was unregistered and he would issue a fine if I was seen to do so. He begrudgingly allowed me to drive to the pub, all of 200 yards, to get a room for the weekend. Sunday morning, hung over, and waiting for the bar to open, I saw and heard the police car start up and head off to the west flat out with lights flashing and noise makers on. I hopped in the car and took off north for Stanthorpe, Warwick, and home.

even when they are open it is rafferty's rules, Did I read that Redcliffe had been Robbed ??? that would be a nice haul a couple of hundred punters at between 500 & 750 a pop
