My mission, if I chose to accept it, was to retrieve Leon (the Series 1) from M.R. and go to Queensland Transport and receive the magical certificate of registration.
Easier said than done!! Even the legendary Tom Kruse (yeah, the REAL one) would have found this task daunting.
Got the call from M.R. at 1300 hrs that the car was back with them complete with successful inspection certificate. What was now required was CTP Insurance and a completed Application for Registration form to be able to drive it to the nearest Q.T. and there process the forms and part with loads of dosh. M.R. inform me that Redcliffe Q.T. office had been robbed and the office was closed for the rest of the day. Great. Missus had to be at work at 1430 so we left home at 1315 to begin the trial. Halfway to Caboolture I realise the fixing pins for the seats are still at home. Turn around, back home, pick them up then head off once again to the upholsterers to pick up the repaired seats. While missus is doing this I go to Suncorp office to organise CTP. Can't do, as I dont have the Vin and Engine numbers do I, as they're with M.R. on the Inspection Cert. **ck. Never mind, they have an office at Redcliffe. Time now1340. Proceed via Caboolture Q.T. to get Application for Rego form and go to M.R. for other forms.
Get forms and drop missus at Hospital (work) and thence to Suncorp, get CTP and back to M.R.to fit seats. Time1510. Back to hospital to leave other car so missus can get home (yeah, I know. Wasted opportunity.)and walk back to M.R. Pay for repairs and spend time waiting for mechanic to find an important piece of paper which he inadvertantly threw away. Found!.time now 1550. Leave to drive to Caboolture where hopefully magic awaits. Arrive Q.T. at 1635. Guess what! Office closes at 1630 on Fridays **ck, **ck, ba**tards.
Oh well there's always Monday.

G'day All, Numpty sounds like your day was a bit like mine, everything I seemed to do ended in some form of disaster, thankfully the day is almost over, good luck for Monday next cheers mate Dennis![]()

The one saving grace was being able to drive Leon all the way home. Got loads of admiring glances. Hang on, maybe they were ogling meOriginally Posted by Dinty
40 MPH along the Bruce Hwy which has a 100KPH speed. It was great. When I got home the daughter said "let me have a drive", so out on to the dirt and down the road. She didn't do badly either.

Sounds a bit like the day me and my late wife had when we moved to NSW from Victoria thirteen years ago. We had two cars and a trailer to change over. Took both of us driving two vehicles to town twice in two days
Thing that struck me was that to change membership from RACV to NRMA (which we did at the same time) took approximately three minutes, and cost nothing (remaining membership transferred and their computers talked to each other). Why could the government(s) not organise something like that?

No, but you have to admire blokes like that. Work, I'm afraid most of us wouldn't know the meaning of the word.Originally Posted by tombraider

The RTA here in NSW re just as bad, the worst thing is only a handful open on a saturday and Lithgow aint one of them, Bathurst does, and while im at it why the hell dont post offices open on a saturday, i know people cant post anything, well they can it just wont go anywhere but people need the post office to bank, pay bills etc and alot of people work during the week. Ok bitch session over, back to you numpty.![]()

Sad thing is, I remember when Post Offices were open on Saturdays and Banks closed at 3.00 every day. At least you could get money from a bank when it was open, not like today. It's the Spanish Inquisition if you want any of YOUR money.Originally Posted by Ace

G'day Folks![]()
Gee, we must be lucky, because on Bribie Island the Post office is open Saturdays, and P.O. box holders can collect after 6.30 am on weekdaysBut I will agree with Numpty, that Caboolture Transport Office is a class act
even when they are open it is rafferty's rules, Did I read that Redcliffe had been Robbed ??? that would be a nice haul a couple of hundred punters at between 500 & 750 a pop
that would sure buy the weekend's dope
