Nissan Patrol death traps on Ch7 now

The show stated there was a problem with handling. I watched it too, and before the ad break they implied (or I took it as) the Patrol generally has a handling problem.

When the show came back on, it went on about that specific vehicle having problems, not the make of vehicle generally. I took that as a hook to keep you watching through the ad break. A bit cheeky, I reckon, but it keep me waiting to see what happened

I thought the show was a bit weak anyway. After all the reconstruction, engineering analysis and blah blah, the best determination arrived at was that he was probably going too fast.

BTW, did anyone else think it appeared to be a wide radius corner? ie too open for such a slow advisory.

G'day ive driven a few 80s toiletflotas and a couple of 60s and found the 60 was better on road at speed the 80s gets a stering shimy and the 60 dont as for the mighty pootrol (the one that ford stole cause they cant build 4x4's) my sis owns one and i drive it regular an i find it is shyte on road and has the shimmy probs to like the 80s the pootrol has to be driven rite if u r guna drirve it like you stole it and u have to know wat you are in for if u f/up they have bad under steer and wollow round corners at speed and then u throw in the shimmy and u get a bad recipe as for the landy's i think a good series leaf sprung truck would be as good on road as an 80s and far better than a pootrol and then the rangies are in a class of their own i rekon they ride and handle better than al the before mentioned trucks both on road at speed ad high speed gravel and i have to say that a d1 is allmost the same as a rangie but a bit more top heavy and the d2 still top heavy but rides and handles as good or better than a rangie as for the d3 im yet to drive one but would think thy would be better again than a rangie and as for the fender they ride prety much the same as the rangie but seem to float about a bit more so anyway thats my 2 bob worth and mwaiting for the ridicule lucky ive got big shoulders :D :D :D

Having owned thre patrols a 1984 3.3 TD 5 speed manual SWB, a 1990 3 litre 5 speed manual wagon, and 1998 2.8 TDI 5 speed maual Wagon there was nothing wrong with their handling on the road but the Range Rover 1993 certaintly provides greater passenger comfort than any of the Patrols l've owned.

The SWB had the worse handling characteristics of the Patrols given its wheelbase, made it slightly choppier in the ride but that problem was solved with a $2,000 Ultimate suspension kit

In terms of money spent to keep the vehicle on the road the Range Rover sucks the money out of your wallet compared to the Patrols.

Bought it for $13,000 and have spent $5,000 in 18 months on it, fixing things like the air suspension bags, the air conditioning, the heater, windscreen washer pump, cruise control, immobiliser

My Defender is OK barreling down the road but I have found that I have to be very careful even taking a little look at the cattle in the paddock by the side of the road or some such thing. I need to snap back to check where I am in my lane as my Defender wants to know what I'm looking at as well and start heading in that direction

Now this may be me not being able to move my head without moving my arms but it does not happen when I am in a car - they drive like they are on rails.

When I was little we had a G60 Patrol. The very last of them and Dad bought it new when the new model came out (MQ ?). My Discovery rides and handles so much better. I can't believe anyone would buy a Patrol :p

Ok for the record ive been recovered by a pootrol or 3 and thats what there good for as they have good strong drivline and im not ashamed of being recovered by a dato :D :D

As 4 the punctuation like i said ive got big shoulders take the pi55 as much as u like as i DGAF !!!:D :D :D

This is typical of every Landie I've owned and one very good reason I took the landie on my 10,500klm long service trip when I was entitled to the company car. I reckon the chance of nodding off would have been twentyfold in the car Vs Landie.
I mean you would have to be totally wasted to fall asleep in a landie. Sure it cost me, and I was a lot more tired at the end of each travelling day, but I am still here to earn the hoot to cover the trip costs.
I'm not saying the patrol driver fell asleep, but no one can say either way.:o
BTW you should try to admire the scenery while towing a caravan. !!!!

They seem to shimmy and wobble and generally just dont handle well, not as good as a landy anyway.
