The fire definitely went through quickly and without a lot of heat - all the panels are still on and they have a very low melting/burning point.
I live in the same area as the Canberra fires, and the next day I went around to a mates place who had saved his house but lost the garage and workshop - he said another mate's car was in the garage - as we walked up to what was left of the garage there was this huge pool of aluminium coming from under the bottom of the garage door - as we moved to the side of the garage that was no longer there - there was a Pajero IO sitting on its brake discs all burnt out. The wheels had melted and the molten aluminium ran away and all the alumium components - including the ancillaries to the engine had melted and drained away as well.
While the Canberra fires only came to with 100m of my house, a guy a work closely with lost his and they are still rebuilding houses nearby - I feel for the people who lost their car and other possessions - it is a cut wrenching experience that no one should have to endure.
