Rip the bugger right out. Clean up the inner roof and reglue with Aussie strength 3m quick grip or some such. It was repported some years back on TV Auto shows that Euro and Japanese manufacturers underestimate the glue softening power of our Aussie sun. regards shorty943

My apologies - I was thinking about late D1's - so what follows is a bit wrong - Strange as it may seem, the better roof liner was in the early Disco 1. Generally, D2( Nope: I was referring to late D1) linings are still the same as (early pre 94) D1. If you can't find an alternative in recovering the Late D1 roof lining, have a look around for a early D1. The light colored material goes well with grey interior, and if the D1 roof is dirty, you can wash it, and it scrubs up well. I did exactly that - and it came up like new. Fitting it takes a little imagination, but all the holes for screws line up, remember to take the middle interior light as the lat D1 light won't fit, and you'll need to change it's plugs on it over to yours. Yell if you want some pics

Don't waste your time trying to glue it back. Been there, done that.

Get it professionally recovered. You'll be surprised how cheap it is. My classic cost $200.

My P38A now needs to be done.

My D1 has a cast, hard, fitted ceiling which doesn't move.

D2's from what I've seen of them, are entirely different and apart from a few hoop guides will delaminate, as described.

As Ron said (and I've been thru this with a Falcon wagon) get a trimmer to do it. It's a pig of a job.

Either that or buy several cans of spray glue and spend a day inside holding it all in place. (Bad idea, sorry)....

    Trim issues annoy me...

Had the same problem on the Defender a year or two ago, it wasn't the glue that let go but the foam backing breaking down.
The defender uses a plastic headlining (wipe/hose clean), this couldn't be matched so had to have a modern car headling fitted. Biggest PITA was removing the headlining panels although most car trimmers will remove & refit if you're prepared to pay.
Cost was about $200, I used Mega Trim in Dandenong (9792 9952).

Suggested fixes at the time were :- staples, a roof console or hat holder to hold up the front section, cut slits and glue...... A professional re-trim is not expensive and looks great although not original.

Get a Series 1. If the roof liner came down in Leon we would be in serious s**te.

    How can a D1 roof lining fit a D2? I thought the D2's were about 20cms longer.
