Daughter has just sat HSC. Daughter is away with friends in party mode and has not been answering her mobile for a bit. We get "urgent" phone calls over the weekend and today from Board of Studies wanting to contact her. "It's nothing bad" is all they will tell us. Finally get in touch with daughter to get in touch with B.O.S. and to ring us back and tell us what the hell is going on.
    Daughter rings us back.
They wanted to invite her, and make sure she would be available, for a special ceremony on Monday because (in one of her subjects) she
    topped the State!

Tell her CONGRATULATIONS from me and Mud_bogger6 who know the SUFFERING and TEDIOUS amount of boredom school is also Joker1 would agree i think but anyway CONGATULATIONS

    and for the doubters ....

Excellent and my congratulations! Both my son and daughter went to Penrith High. My son finished about 10 years ago and my daughter about 4 years ago.

For those not from NSW, Penrith is a Selective School - they have to do an exam to get selected. It's a pity the teachers at Penrith aren't also required to meet the same standards as the studnets. Some of theose I met there are a waste of space.

Re HECS, my daughter paid her HECS (a lot less than law!) each year in advance to get the discount.

She worked for a year before starting her BA in Nursing - that also enabled her to get a Youth Allowance from CentreLink. She rang a few minutes ago to say she's passed and can register as an RN.

Speaking of CentreLink - based on my daughter's experience, they must be the worst govt. org. to work with. The dole bludgers really know how to work the system but someone who is willing to work is screwed by CentreLink. If you save some money, you are discriminated against.

Now she can register, she can take the Derby job in February.

Sorry, Dave, we are moving awy from YOUR daughter's achievement.

Umm, can I say she's a good looker? I saw her on TV.

Some here have questioned your parentage because of her brains, now we have the good looks throwing up another query!

Thanks for the congrats Jamo, NM and Vandermorph et al.
NM - thanks for your suggestions but she's done six years of commuting to Penrith, if at all possible I'd like her to be able to live on, or near, campus - otherwise you miss out on 90% of the social life!
Pedro - as to the big question - lets just say I'm hoping the Land Rover obsession will overcome her oneday. (I'm sure a RR Sport would do!)

I didn't realise we had met, but judging by that comment we must have.

Nice to hear your kids went to Penrith High too Ron and I must admit I've always been puzzled by the idea that you have a school with strict entrance requirements for the students but apparently no entrance requirements for the teachers! However, with only one or two exceptions over the years, I have had been very impressed with the teachers at Penrith. Their enthusiasm, knowledge and rapport with the students has helped to create a positive culture at the school which helps to bring out the best in all the students. I am very grateful that my two were able to obtain a place there.

... and congratulations to your daughter on her BA!
