I'm assuming you don't mean the innerwest suburb of Sydney called Cabarita![]()
Hi all,
We're off to Cabarita for New Years before heading further south.
When I used to go there as a younger fella there was some okay 4wding in the sandy bush between the beach road and the beach. However it is all housing now
I remember seeing 4wds on the beach but there were also signs saying you needed a permit.
Does anyone have any more info on the beach permits (assuming they still exist) or any other 4wding in the area?
Thanks.

No not quite. I mean Cabarita Beach in Northern NSW.
It was a very quiet seaside town until maybe 5 years ago or a little more. Now it is yuppie central.
Yep the whole nth coast has gone to the developers and spoilt the beauty of it, the south coast is probably better at the moment as it hasn't been over developed as yet.Originally Posted by Utemad
What about a little inland rather than the nth coast, more towards Tenterfield, it's very nice out there.
Also there is places like Rover Park and The Springs 4x4 park near Warwick, if you fancy that sort of stuff.

Cheers Baz.

I can't recall seeing any 4WD beach access near Cabarita recently. There is some semi-beach access up at Fingal Head, but only to get to back-of-dune parking areas.
We are going to Cabarita to start our trip as we are cheating and staying in a house with the inlaws.Originally Posted by Redback
Our club is going to The Springs for the New Years party but we already had other plans. Been there a few times before though but only once with the Disco.
Sorry to report, utemad.....
You'll find Cabarita more busy than Times Square in New York, over Christmas, but, if you feel like a 4wd run go an hour south.
At Lennox Head, there is beach access....
At South Ballina, the same, but its a 'tyres down' and low range and CDL.
If you ping the tide right its a great 40k run to Evans Head.

Over the same period last year we stayed three days at Black Rock in Bundjalung NP and drove Ten Mile Beach. That was alright and just south of Evans Head. We actually discovered it by accident when we tried to stay at Evans Head and found it was booked solid. It's not camper trailer friendly though with 99% of the camp areas protected by those treated log fences.
Not sure if we will make it that far south this time though as I have some unfortunate work clashes. Pffffffft work![]()
I stayed at black rocks last weekend to test the new camper.
Very Very dusty out that way at the moment.
Wasnt that camper friendly
And not to bad little beach run. saw and emu or two running along the beach as well
When I was there I only saw one patch of ground suitable for vans/trailers. It had two vans on it at the time and that was all that would fit. I wouldn't recommend anyone that wanted vehicle access to sites to go there. However it was a very nice spot all the same. The weather was windy and rainy when we were there and we still liked it.Originally Posted by Wazza
