[quote=Reads90 When importing from the uk you have to of lived with the car for 12 months before you can import it .

You are mentioning a car you have owned and used overseas for a statutory time whilst absent from Australia. I think everyone else is discussing a car bought overseas for the specific purpose of importing into Australia without living and using overseas. Different rules. You still need need to have approval to import THAT PARTICULAR CAR before you buy it, or make any move to bring it here. Well, you may buy it, but don't think you can bring it here without getting approval. you may have done your dough, in fact, almost certainly. Just like getting married overseas without thinking that the new spouse may not be considered worthy of Oz. residency. Get the permits and paperwork first, then pay for the car ( and/or the bride/groom).
Ahh ok i just look at personal import and not really any other import. So bit out of my depth when it comes to the other sorts of import

But can't throw too much of a problem if Queensland transport has been all over it and it has passed all the import rules. Plus the only problem with an Imported car is the fact that most insurance companys will not touch them. So after alot of calls we got a quote and went with Shannons who do insure imported cars
I am not a person that goes with the cheapest insurance company , perfer to go with a good name . Cheap car insurance in my mind is not always the best when it comes to claiming

    Nothing.....yet.

I'm just keeping my eyes peeled for something different. I need a new project and I was checking out the NZ version of ebay and found a bunch of nice Landies.

    V8 90 would be nice.
    Cheers
