    Advice needed

    Well, I am after a bit of advice. Today I had the final straw in my battle with the dreaded north queensland dealerships and I would like to congratulate the Townsville dealership for giving me that convertable feeling in my Discovery I mean who knew that you could actually drive down the highway with all the windows up and get water spraying in your face from under the bloody winndscreen. For those of you that dont know my Disco has been in at Land rover for 16 weeks of this year for a bonnet respray and a leakey roof and the result is that its still stuffed with more problems created by the dealership and I dont have the money to take the bastards to court. So its time to pass the problem on and never drive another land rover again in my life (maybe an exageration but the way I currently feel). All in all I would like to congratulate Land Rover Australia for ruining my pasion for Landrovers and pushinng me away from the brand as I cannot trust them to do anything right or even tell the truth.

    So the question is seeing as I have been revolving around the green oval for so long I dont really know much about anything else so what is a good 4wd to have?

    Just go back to a series or a fender... at least you know what you're in for

    Sorry to hear of your woes

    Honestly all new cars are designed to last till the warrantee expires, (hence the throw away society) You'll get this sort of hassels with all makes and models. Regardless of what any media inspired and sponsored magazines and T.V shows tell you.

    If you want a car that will last forever build it yourself, at least you'll know what the problems if any are.

    If you are at your wits end with the Discovery and cannot trust Land Rover Aus to do anything right then perhaps it is a good idea to run with a different brand of 4wd for a few years. There is no point in battling with a problematic vehicle purely because its a Land Rover.

    Maybe run with a Land Cruiser, or the best value at present IMHO, a Patrol? The current model Patrol is a bloody excellent vehicle for the money and the 4cyl Diesel is great

    Cars designed not to last is one thing, but retards not being able to do a paint job or put a windscreen properly after 3 or more atempts is just plain crap and considering that LRA have spent over $30k on my car and still cant get it right is the obvious reason they are closing everything down, it costs them too much in f@#* ups to have more than a couple of dealerships open. What I am asking though is what car do I buy if I dont want it in getting warranty work for most of the year? Because on a serious note I almost forgot what my vehicle looked like this year and I knew I i was paying for something because the money still came out of my account even though there was no car in my driveway!

    did i hear right the 4 cyl diesel is great , no thats why so many of those diesels have had lots of problems and have blown up as well

    stay clear of the 3ltr 4 cyl diesel nissan

    I was talking about the new 2.5 Diesel but I've just discovered its in the Navara's only... cousin of mine has one and its done 44,000 without a problem yet

    What I am saying is this is not just a LRA problem all dealers have a problem doing work for nothing. I know of someone who when buying a brand new 4wd (non LR) asked for the vehicle to have AT tyres on delivery, even quoted the brand size etc... Delivery date came stock tyres come back, this went on 3 times till the person got so frustrated they walked out in disgust, that dealer lost the customers trust and all future sales.

    Yours unfortunately is not an isolated incident but happens day to day with all makes and models.
