Hi guys,
Call me stupid, but I don't seem to find out exactly when to change timingbelt on my 300Tdi in my Defender.
I've heard stories of 40000 miles, 60000 miles, 72000 miles, 60000km......??
Please let me know when to change as the car is coming up to 35000 miles since it was done last.
Thanks
Roel

Sorry m8, but 35000miles is only 56000k's.....
80,000km is 50,000mls but we haven't talked in miles since 1972 - my Haynes book has timing belt changes every 60,000km (which is about 36,000 miles in the old money) so it would be time to change the belt.Originally Posted by rangieman

they say to change the belt at 80.000 ks so you have 14.000 s to do it![]()
Had the same problem getting a consistent answer to when to change so I did mine at 70000km.

the actual service book specification for the last of the 300Tdi's is 72,000 miles/116,000km but.......
.........that is for 'normal' use in temperate regions.
In severe service, this is shortened to 36,000 miles.
Severe service use is defined as towing a trailer or driving in mountainous conditions, driving in dusty and/or sandy conditions, driving in extremely hot conditions, driving on rough and/or muddy roads and/or wading.
