Well I've had no problems with my TD5 apart from a leaking fuel regulator at the rear of the engine ($400 for a new one).
It is a fabulous engine and I love it. Mine is 2002 which is (supposed to be) after the plastic dowel issue and the oil-pump bolt missing loctite issue.
I couldn't stand feeding a V8 petrol, week in week out. I know diesels cost more, but for long distance travelling they can't be beat.
OK, I'll say it AGAIN...
There is no such thing as a dowel issue....
Once an engine is torqued together the dowels dont do ****

Getting from A to B is one thing and quite important but doing it in style
is the main thing.
Buy a Disco.
