My V8 has always gone well for me but IMHO i'd go the TD5 with current fuel trends
I am thinking of buying another LR, however this time I wanted to upgrade from my GS Series 3. I have been looking into the Discovery SE7, and they seem to be good value ($18K - $25K). What are the areas to check? Do they have particular problems? And any opinions on the Td5 or V8? The other vehicle that interests me is the RR HSE 1995 onwards (with the square headlights). Any opinions or prev experiences with either of the two trucks would be appreciated, as i know very little about them. I dont want to 4wd in the next truck as i have the GS for that, more of a town car this time.
Thanks in advance

Well I've had no problems with my TD5 apart from a leaking fuel regulator at the rear of the engine ($400 for a new one).
It is a fabulous engine and I love it. Mine is 2002 which is (supposed to be) after the plastic dowel issue and the oil-pump bolt missing loctite issue.
I couldn't stand feeding a V8 petrol, week in week out. I know diesels cost more, but for long distance travelling they can't be beat.

the square h/lamp rangie is the P38a and they have someelectricery problems, ask Scouce about them and their market value
why not look at a low klm late 300 tdi auto Disco, they are good value for money and with a like tweek go well.
Just my suggestion![]()
cheers
You get a lot of ULp for the money you save on purchase price for a V8.... But if i had my time over... I would opt for a TD5 with a chip.... Even though my Dii on gas is pretty cool!
16-20l/100k. You learn to live with it..... and the v8's aren't that trouble free! Maybe a bit cheaper to fix.
There's a lovely dII TD5 in trading post with a lot of goodies for $25k.. it would be my pick at the moment.....
Photos as promised, the roof of his shed blew off last Sept. so this one has not had very good cover BUT its still ok I think I will be able to get them for about $750 each.
Will let you know Asp
Cliff.
