Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen any interviews with Iraqi civilians where they specifically said they wonted the yanks out.

I’m not talking about the media hype.

The last time I saw an legitimate interview, which was on SBS, the people were more concerned that their own forces were not doing enough and not one person said a bad word about the yanks other that that too were not doing enough to get services going and not that they wanted the yanks to leave.

While he is in Iraq, if there is ANYTHING he can do to increase his safety, I say more power to him.

I’ve heard some tall stories but if you think our 30,000 strong military force could stop the worlds 4th largest army, I’d like to know what your on.

We have Bucklys of ever being any form of a deterrent to Indonesia if they want to come here, but while the yanks have the power they do, countries like Indonesia think twice before doing what they want.
Cool, I hope Indonesia does invade...... imagine it ...........

    we can buy fireworks again

not going the 9 yards on this one....

from my experience working with the yanks......

nice gear, great units, exclelent capabilities....

no brains at the soldier level and no cross capabilities at any level... Id trade a batallion of yank infantry in hummers for a section of aussie soldiers on foot.

That about sums it up for me to Dave, although, the last bit sounds back to front to me. I personally think you would need more than a battalion of yank infantry in hummers to take on just about any section of poor old Aussie grunts.
In my family, if you did not wear a tight blue skin, then you better damn well wear a baggy green one son. Older brother Vietnam vet, younger uncle Korea, older uncle on Kakoda, most of the rest of us were Navy.

    My pennyworth..
Churchill NEVER said we were expendable. His country was in deep ***** and he tried to keep our 7th Div in North Africa. He is guilty of putting his countries priorities ahead of ours.
Think about it, would a politician really say something even near that?
It really narks me when misinformation gets repeated.
I bet no-one can find any credible proof.

Also, those Yanks, say what you will about them , but if you ask me, they are driving like that out of pure fear.
Oh and the indonesians. They are a disorganised rabble, especially the army. I'd be more worried about the melting ice caps than them ever trying to invade.
Maybe they will all get on thier ferries and drown on the trip.

I was quite disappointed to hear that the melting icecaps are only going to raise the sea level by 1m. I was hoping to get ocean views from my mountaintop home, but I'll have to give up that dream. Along with the fond hope of being forced to learn Indonesian. I guess I could always hope for Chinese.
