Wrong! The door design changed in 1987, the name changed to Defender in 1989 (although none were imported here for the next year or two). Military doors remained almost the same as S3.
To go through the whole history:-
(Ignoring S1 as they have a different shape and the doors don't interchange with later models - same applies to Lightweights and FCs)
The door shape was introduced as a two piece door with the S2. This remained unchanged with the S2a and S3 except for the provision of different window locks in the S3 and the introduction of antiburst locks in the later S3. Door trim was optional. In addition, the door check was different from S2 to S3. The 110 introduced a different door check, and the join between the fixed and sliding glass followed the front sloping door edge, rather than being vertical as it always had been until then. In about 1984 the 110 and 90 civilian versions (except canvas top) got wind up windows with one piece doors (and fake lower door top galvanised trim) with different door locks, still with lift up handles, and door trim as standard. In 1987 these doors were replaced by a new door, the same shape but thicker, and with a pressed steel frame instead of the welded frame from channel steel. This door had push button handles, and dropped the galvanised trim, and remains in production today, and as far as I can see is used in the new model.
The hinges are the same on S2 and 2a, then changed with the S3 and remain the same today.

What is that supposed to mean?!?!?!;) :D :D
My 90 has the gen Land Rover silver light surronds and front grill. At the time we put them on they had just come out and the one silver light surrond was the same pruice as the whole set of three in the black
But unlike the county grills in the 80's (which we painted so they would start to peal after a couple of years and look crap) these are sloid silver so they do not peal. Mine have been on for 4 years and look fine. Also looks best with the white indicator lenses too.
